'The Space' is an experimental acousmatic composition by Bea Dunsmore and Andrew Stewart. This piece takes the audio from Stewart's poem, written specifically for this composition, and creates the described sound world with only the manipulation of the vocal recording as material.

Within the rocks
The air and water.
A tale is told.
A cliff of falls and climbs and skies that flick and falter
Flames that dance and give no warmth
But burn and chew and rumble.
Bursting out of pores we have the stars.
Pinned above our heads.
In reach but far
Both at once

Tidal waves ring.
Harmonies that ripple
The sight of sounds
Birds that have no song
But words which mumble rivers
Heart shaped clouds form
Deform reform adjourn.
Aqua flowing up
In to the hemisphere.
Lands that dream.
Skies that dream.
Between you are still breathing.
Years and years of etching
Shapes upon this cloth
Wrapped in nature's robes
Naked and unsure.

Blue sand of the desert.
While swimming lakes of buzz
Their glow of red just common
Not warning or deterrent
And deep.
Fish that leap and wink and flirt and fake and fall and flow.
Sleep
Sleep
Old spells cover ground on which we have been before
Some battlefields and simple things
Ring and ring and ring.
Ears to ground and heart feel the cries and pull.
The pull. The place.
Inner space.
Dreamt.

Whispers crumbs and faint echo
Stories stretch for endings
Angels wrote them long ago
On moons which act as symbols
Dissolving at the dawn.
Light travels on the ether.
Glints the key.
A bounce. Then on
On and on and on
Past what eyes can see.
It cannot be.
All blur and boom.
All blur and boom.

Through the dizzy gates
All points connect and break
No angle where to view
In conscious ways and forms.
A sea beneath the surface.
The place we crawled once from.
Beyond the daytime world.
It cannot name itself.
There's nothing there to hold.

Vibrations conjure cities
A place to muse and dwell.
Ask.
Ask and see.
Ask and be.
There's nothing there to hold.
There's nothing there.
A void.

Masks on mountain faces.
Tell the story well.
Just shades of shade blending
Oxbow lakes beneath.
Great caves to sleep and slumber.
Deeper.
Ending
Never ending.
Eternia.
